The daughter of Guy and Linnie (Smith) Tabor was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Beggs, the fourth of eight children. She attended school in Beggs and then later in Preston. She graduated from Preston High School as valedictorian in 1941. Hazel was very athletic, excelling in basketball and softball in high school. During World War II, Hazel was recruited to play professional softball in the Women's League, but went to work at McDonald Douglas instead. She married Albert Merle Jennings, her high school sweetheart in 1941; they moved to California for a short time while he was in the service. They later made their home in Bartlesville and had seven children together, four sons and three daughters. Hazel worked for Phillips Petroleum for 17 years as an executive secretary.
She married Dick Weber in 1960, and they moved to Chelsea in 1962. After retiring from Phillips in 1972, she and Dick moved to Grand Lake. After the death of her husband and youngest son less than two years apart, needing to stay busy, she went back to school getting a real estate license. She had owned her own real estate business for the last several years with her son, Jim and his wife, Greta, as partners. Hazel continued to work in her office almost every day until she retired in 2011. In 1986, Hazel became a member of the National Association of Master Appraisers. Hazel also served on the Oklahoma Tourism Committe in 1991-92. While on the committee she received the Oklahoma State of Excellence Award. Also in the early 90's she served on the Board of Grand Lake Tourism. Hazel attended the Lake Center Baptist Church. She loved her family, friends, church, selling real estate, and spending time with her friend, Pat Bohanon. She has had a very busy and blessed life.
