Funeral service for Helen Marie Herndon will be 1 p.m., Tues., Sept. 13, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Helen died Sat., Sept. 10, 2011, at her home at the age of 82.
The daughter of Otto Harold and Anna Mae (Boyd) Peaster was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Wynnewood. Helen lived in several areas including Kentucky, Dustin, OK, Alva, OK, and Claremore. On Dec. 30, 1970, Helen married Sidney Gene Herndon in Chickasha. She worked as a waitress most of her life, retiring from Collier's Bowling Alley in Idabel in 1993. Helen was an extremely good seamstress. She enjoyed plants, flowers, birds, making blankets for people, traveling, and animals.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; adopted son, Jerry Herndon; her parents; brother, Don Peaster; and sisters: Novella Mae Peaster, and Betty Ruth Ellison.
Helen is survived by her children: Linda Howard Franklin and husband, Mickey of Foster, KY, Sharon Langwell Kerr and husband, Ken of Claremore, and Ladonna Brown Hanson of Eau Claire, WI; brothers: Keith Peaster of Bartlesville, Bill Peaster and wife, Patty of Tennessee, Leroy Peaster and wife, Jeannine of Paris, France, Phil Peaster and wife, Mary Jane of Edmond, and Tommy Peaster of Foyil; sisters: Louise Bledsoe and husband, Eldon of Oklahoma City, and Barbara Peaster Kelsey and husband, Paul of Claremore; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
