Service for Helen Palmateer will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church in Inola. Friends may visit at the funeral on Sunday, June 7 from 1pm to 6pm. Helen passed away at her home on Saturday, May 30, 2020. She was 93.
Born June 9, 1926 in Deaf Smith County, Texas to Alfred Lorraine and Ona Lee (Wilkinson) Ellison, Helen attended Bellview Elementary and later Rosedale High both in Bellview, New Mexico. In 1942 she married Ralph Hampton Palmateer and the couple made their home in Parmer County Texas where they operated a ranch. The couple moved to Inola in the late 60's and this has been home since.
Helen always kept busy and enjoyed taking care of her farm, she mowed her own yard until about a year ago. She had a career in real estate and worked many years for several different companies, Rooney Real Estate, Washburn/Wiley Real Estate, Showplace Real Estate and Williams Realtor. During this time, she won several awards, Top Listing Agent and Top Producer and Sales Associate, to name a few.
A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Helen loved being involved with their ministries. She was active in the choir and loved teaching the children at the church and also served as the church clerk for several years. She enjoyed reading the Bible. She and her sister, Mary Jane took care of each other. Each year they would bake the other one a birthday cake for the celebration. They loved each other and were great companions through the years.
Those family members that survive include her sister Mary Jane Ellison and many nieces, nephews, along with many great nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ona Ellison, husband Ralph Palmateer, her brothers Horace Ellison and Charlie Ellison, her sisters Margaret Glover and Ona VanDyke.
