Henry Hooks

August 28, 1958 — March 1, 2015

Funeral service for Henry Hooks will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Pastor Bertheophilus Bailey Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Military Honors by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 6-8 p.m.

Henry passed away March 1, 2015 at the age of 56.

The son of Willie and Mildred Hall Hooks was born August 28, 1958 in Osceola, Arkansas. There he was raised and attended school. After graduating in 1976, he began his working career. However after a couple of years he decided to enter the United States Army. He served until his discharge on January 19, 1981. He then returned to Osceola where he became reacquainted with Gloria Meeks. They married December 6, 1985 in Claremore. While in Claremore Henry worked at places such as Cottondale, Claremore Veterans Center, and lastly at Woodmanor Nursing Home. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mildred Hooks.

Survivors include his wife Gloria of the home, brothers, Bobby Hooks, John Hooks and Malcolm Hooks; sister, Mary Ann Vormes; brother-in-laws, Allen Williams, Cleveland Woodson, Homer Meeks, Dennis Meeks, and Forrest Meeks; sister-in-laws, Shirley Woodson, Ruby Marshall, Mary Williams, Carolyn Meeks and Bernice Christian; most memorable nieces and nephews, Shaquette Williams, Demarcus Williams, Luke Williams, Deon Vornes, and Jamelle Vornes, along with numerous other nieces, nephew, cousins, uncles and aunts.
