Service for Hosea Wallis will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2024, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, August 18, from 1pm-6pm, with family receiving visitors from 4pm-6pm.
Hosea Marion Wallis passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 91. The son of Homer and Bertha Jones Wallis was born October 9, 1932, in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was raised in rural Claremore in the Harmony Starr community along with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He attended Sequoyah schools where he graduated, as a member of the class of 1951.
After graduating high school, he went to work at J. Paul Getty building trailers. On May 29, 1952, he married the love of his life, Belzarah Horner. Hosea went to work for McDonald Douglas in 1952 and in 1953 was called to serve his country during the Korean War. Hosea & Belza lived in Fort Hood, TX while he served until being honorably discharged in May 1955. They returned to Claremore and Hosea returned to work to have a long career in the Aviation industry. He worked at McDonald Douglas until 1963 then to North American Aircraft which became Rockwell International which led him to retiring from Boeing in April 1988.
Hosea and Belza shared many adventures together throughout their 71 years of marriage. One of their favorite pastimes was traveling in their RV as snowbirds to south Texas during the winter months. They also actively participated in an RV club, where they enjoyed camping trips and playing games with other couples who shared their love for RVing. Hosea also enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, visiting with neighbors, and gathering around a good campfire with friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Bertha Wallis; stepmother, Dorothy Yarnell Wallis, wife Belzarah J. Wallis, beloved son Larry Dale Wallis, and brothers Raymond, Richard, Mitchell, and Austin Wallis and sisters Nadine Genzel and Louise Jantzen.
Survivors include loving daughter, Ladonna Peden, and husband Rick; grandson Michael Dale Wallis; great granddaughter Ella Lee Wallis; daughter-in-law Julia Wallis, brothers and sister-laws, Marvin and Neppie Wallis, and Jerry and Cheryl Wallis, and numerous stepbrothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and cousins.
