Howard Tomas Turner

Funeral service for Howard T. Turner will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Clark officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-5 p.m.
Howard passed away Sun., June 7, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 75.
The son of Cecil Andrew Turner and Lorene Turner was born Jan. 30, 1940, in the family home in Sequoyah. He graduated from Sequoyah High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Howard worked as a plumber for Baker's before going to work as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Company. He also farmed and raised cattle, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the casino, horse races, and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughters: Sheryl Marie Brown and Karen Lynn Brewer; grandchildren: Robert Adam Brown, Kylie Aaron Brewer, and Michael Lucas Brewer; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Bill Cecil Turner, Doris A. Turner, Betty Darlene (Turner) Jaggers, and Janice May (Turner) Baldridge.
