Services for Hulen Ray Hutson will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service; burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 15, from 1-8, with family receiving visitors from 6-8. Ray passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014. He was 80.
Born in Oklahoma City on June 12, 1933 to Syrus and Ollie (Tate) Hutson, Ray was reared and educated in California. Following his schooling he joined the Marines and served his country honorably for 8 years. On August 25, 1951 he married Velma Lorene Jackson and six children blessed their union. Ray was employed with General Dynamics in the aerospace industry and later opened his own business in Lancaster, California. In 1970 he moved to Claremore to be near family and began working for Big 4 Foundry. Ray later took a position with Burgess Norton in Claremore, retiring from there in the mid 90’s.
Hobbies included computers; Ray was a self-taught computer guru and could make a computer from scratch. He love working on them and spending time playing as well. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them. He was known as the “candy man” to the young kids, at church, always having a pocket full of candy to pass out.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ray will be missed by all that knew him. Those family members that survive include his wife Lorene of their home; his children Cynthia Arlene Hutson of Tulsa, Diana Gail Martin of Broken Arrow, Kathryn Rae Cunningham and husband Ron of Red Oak, Texas, Betty Ann Hutson of Tulsa and Glenn Allen Huston also of Broken Arrow; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; his sister Jewel Ryan of Santa Monica, California. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, son Terry Andrew Hutson and siblings Martha Lucille Hutson and Leona Rosetta Hutson.
