Ida Hale was born June 11, 1934 in Tahlequah to John B. and Julia (Holt) Gritts. She attended school in her birth community, graduating from Tahlequah High School. On October 25, 1955 Ida married Lawrence David "L.D." Hale and the couple made their home in Claremore where they raised their five children.
An active mother, Ida was involved with her children's activities. She was a girl scout leader, member of the PTA and a surrogate mother to many children. She was an avid antique collector and was an inspiring fixture at the Tulsa Flea Market for many years. One of her greatest joys in life was traveling with her sisters. Ida had a great sense of humor and could find something funny in every situation. All who met her, loved her and found a friend in Ida. Her home was "home" to many of the neighborhood kids and they knew that dinner was at 5:00. From track meets to baseball games, Ida was always in the stands to cheer on her kids.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jennifer Jo Hale; her siblings Luella Cloud, Edwina Claxton and Agnes Welch.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ida is survived by her husband L.D. Hale of their home; children Amanda Hardwick and husband Gary, Jonna Anderson and husband Jody, John Hale and wife Michele, David Hale and wife Dianne and Jeff Hale and wife Sarah; her grandchildren Nathan Anderson, Amelya Wilmott and husband Matt, Alexandra Hardwick, Haley Hardwick, Julia Hale, Max Hale, Elena Hale, Austin Blower and Trey Hale; her brother Joe Gritts and wife Ruth and her sister Charlotte Farar and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
