Funeral service for Imogene Frances Hale will be 2 p.m., Wed., March 11, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 1-2 p.m.
Imogene passed away Fri., March 6, 2015, at Wood Manor at the age of 86.
The daughter of Henry William Sumter and Hazel Ida (Eagleton) Sumter was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Claremore where she grew up and attended school. On Sept. 19, 1947, she married Glenn Hale. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1957, and then to Claremore in the early '80's. Imogene worked for Wal-mart for 30 years in Broken Arrow and Claremore, where she was the manager for Health and Beauty Aids. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard and collecting antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents: daughter, Sue Ann Lamar; brothers: Lawrence, Raymond, Joe, Virgil, and Henry "J.R." Sumter; and sisters: Juanita Kirk and Geneva Hill.
Imogene is survived by her husband, Glenn; daughter, Glenna Adams and husband, Randy of Mannford; brother, Kenneth Sumter and wife, Margaret; and sisters: Mildred Fishback and Dorothy Bump of Claremore, and Naomi Horton of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
