Ira Ray McMillan

Ira Ray McMillan passed away Sat., Jan. 16, 2016, at his home at the age of 70.

The son of Armin McMillan and Edna Ruth (King) McMillan was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from Highand High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. When he returned home, he went to work for New Mexico Timber Company. On Dec. 30, 1967, Ira married Connie Mosttler in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. They moved to Oklahoma in 1982. Ira worked as a welder and truck driver for many years before going to work for Bechtel Engineering as a Certified Weld Inspector. He retired in April 2015. Ira graduated with an associates degree from Rogers State University, and was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. He loved his church and church family, and was affiliated with the Kairos Ministry and Green Country Walk to Emmaus. He also loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and camping. In the 70's, he enjoyed racing motorcycles with his brother, Lee.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Connie of the home; children: Kennethe R. McMillan, Kimberly F. McMillan Pilgrim, and Kandi Michelle McMillan Matthes; sister, Shirley Bogart; brother, Lee McMillan; and grandchildren: Alexander M. McMillan, Michael R. McMillan, Tristan K. McMillan, Jordan A. McMillan, Makaylah R. Matthes, Cace R. Matthes, and Tanner R. Pilgrim.
