Service for Ireatha Faye Hammons will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00p.m. Faye passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024. She was 84.
Faye was born in Owasso, Oklahoma, on July 29, 1939, to Charlie and Mildred (Burdett) Fetterhoff. Her early years were marked by dedication to her education, culminating in her high school years at Central in Tulsa. Following her schooling, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Zebco, where she started out on the assembly line and worked her way into accounts payable. She was a valued employee there for many years until her retirement in 2018.
Described as a kind and loving soul, Faye's true passion lay in spending time with her family, especially with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her warm personality touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Beyond her professional and family life, Faye had a deep love for music and often sang at her church. She cherished moments of travel with her daughter, Vicky, exploring new destinations together especially their very favorite place, Savannah, GA, which they visited many times. Additionally, Faye found joy in the simple pleasures of hunting for treasures at garage sales.
Faye's journey through life was intertwined with the love and support of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Mildred Fetterhoff, her sons Mitchell Tate and Lloyd Douglas Tate as well as 13 of her 14 siblings.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Arkie "Dude" Hammons; loving daughter, Vicky Jones; brother, Cecil Jones; and her grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life and lovingly called her "Nan", Ryan and Stephanie Gotcher, Reed Gotcher, Donnie Tate, and Christie Weathers. Her fun, sassy personality with her grandchildren made her so special to them. They have so many wonderful memories of teasing and laughter to always look back on and cherish.
