Funeral service for James Darrell "J.D." Golden will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 28, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Washington Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m.
J.D. passed away Thurs., April 24, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 73.
The son of James Mack and Rosie Bell (Owens) Golden was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Watts. J.D. served in the U.S. Army from 1961-63. He repaired small appliances for Gene Hendrix, and later worked for the Claremore Veterans Center in maintenance. J.D. enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing pool. He also loved watching football, and was a member of the American Legion.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Delbert Golden.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy M. Golden and wife, Phyllis of Claremore; brother, Billy R. Golden of Claremore; sisters: Hazel R. Brewer of Oologah, Barbara Vaught of Claremore, and Bonnie Ewton of Oologah; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
