Service for Jackie J. Sappington will be 11:00a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Dick Duck Cemetery, Catoosa. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 25 from 1pm--8pm with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm. Jackie passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. He was 66.
Born September 25, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Jack James and Norma Louise (Buchfink) Sappington, Jackie received his education in Catoosa, graduating with the class of 1969. After graduation he started his work career in the plumbing business, later he worked for Lee C. Moore, a steel company. Jackie finished his career in steel at Ozark Steel, retiring in July 1998. Following retirement, he worked for a time at Rimer Plumbing in Catoosa.
On December 26, 1978 Jackie married Sharon Louise Rue. The couple made their home in Catoosa, where they raised their family. Jackie enjoyed fishing, playing tennis, and was an avid Cubs, Cardinal and Sooner fan. He also liked playing basketball and softball. Jackie loved spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories about Cowboy Bob and Indian Joe. He also could be found watching old western movies especially about John Wayne.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronnie Sappington.
Family members that survive include his wife Sharon of their home; children Tammy Sappington of Owasso, Jackie James Sappington and wife Kari of Haskell, Jesse Sappington and wife Jerri of Oologah, Ryan Payne and wife Brandi of Chelsea, and Shane Sappington and wife Dustie also of Oologah; his sister Gloria Landon and husband Wayne of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
