James Clark "J.C." Christie

May 9, 1932 — December 19, 2016

James Clark Christie was born May 9, 1932 in July Springs, Oklahoma to Fannie (Lawrence) Christie and Jackson Christie. He grew up on his father’s allotment in Hungry Mountain, outside of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He served in the Army during the Korean War, where he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. J.C. worked primarily as an automatic transmission mechanic, working for over 25 years at Star Transmission in Tulsa, and he retired from Mac’s Transmission in Claremore four years ago.

The youngest of ten children, J.C. was called to his Heavenly home on December 19, 2016 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, (Charlie, Levi Leroy, Frank, Phillip and Jackson, Jr.) and four sisters, (Bessie Ryker, Mary Bruner, Carol Nottingham and Patsy Ruth Christie), several nieces, nephews and cousins. He celebrated his 54th anniversary with his wife, Arlena (Vann) Christie on December 12, 2016. J.C. is survived by his wife, his daughters Robin Roberts and Brenda Christie-Lichtenegger and her husband John; granddaughters Tonya Roberts and Rachel Gardner, and great-grandchildren, Riley, Alexis, Michael and Olivia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

J.C. loved cars-driving fast, fixing transmissions and watching NASCAR. He loved his pets and enjoyed traveling with his family on vacations across the US. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a trusted friend. J.C. will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive visitors during visitation and viewing on December 22, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm. Services will be scheduled with the National Cemetery at Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma in the spring.
