Memorial service for James Davis will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Cedar Point Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemtery, under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
James Joseph Davis passed away on May 25, 2017 at the age of 67.
The son of Gordon and Irmengard Davis was born November 9, 1949 in Landshut, Germany. Being the son of a career military man, James spent a large portion of his childhood in many different places. Such as Kansas, Washington State, Alaska, and finally Oklahoma. He would attended Claremore High School, where he was part of the gymnastic team. He graduated as a member of the class of 1968. Shortly after graduation James joined the United States Navy. Serving until his discharge in August of 1972. He returned home to Claremore where he met Joan Proctor. They would marry on June 22, 1973. Over the next several years James would work with his brother in law, learning how to do electric work for elevators. Eventually he would put his skills to work in the oil industry. He began doing the electric work on the equipment that was sent all of the world. He retired in 2016.
In his spare time James loved being outdoors. He enjoyed photography, fishing, hunting quail and pheasant and playing bingo as well. There was also the occasionally road trips that just happen to go by a local casino. However spending time with his family was always his greatest enjoyment.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Janie Jano and husband Justin, grandchildren, Kayla, Dacey, and Elyas; brothers, John "Cheese" and Karl Davis; sisters, Terry Davis and Antionette Davis-Henson and husband Doug and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
