Family service for James "Jimmy" Edward Folkner will be held Feb. 16, 2012 from 2 - 5 p.m. in the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Airforce at 3:00 p.m.
Jimmy passed away Feb. 11, 2012 at the age of 66. He had been fighting a 9 year battle with cancer.
The son of Walter and Edna Folkner was born May 29, 1945 in Merced, California. June 3, 1964 Jimmy enlisted in the United States Airforce. After a couple of months in service Jimmy earned some leave time. He then married his high school sweetheart Carol Thomas. After a brief honeymoon Jimmy was back at work for the Air Force. He spent many years overseas, including a tour in Vietnam. He retired as a master sergeant in 1984 after a 20 year career. After his discharge he returned to Broken Arrow. He quickly put his skills acquired in the military to work by taking a job for American Airlines. He worked as an aircraft machinist for 19 years, before retiring in 2003. Jimmy loved spending time with his wife Carol. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting guns and knives and playing at the casino.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Edna, twin boys, Ronnie and Donnie Folkner and daughter-in-law Reanna Folkner.
Survivors include his wife Carol of the home, sons, Brian Folkner of Claremore, Craig Folkner of Claremore, Joey Hallmark of Claremore, Charlie Bogle of Claremore, Timothy Lewis of Claremore, Jason Lewis of Claremore, and Doug Scott of Claremore; daughter, Krystal Figg of Claremore; grandchildren, Kryste of Tennessee, Mark and wife Kim Folkner of Branson, Missouri, Christina of Marina, California, Destany Folkner of Claremore and great-grandchild Devin Wood of Marina, California; siblings, David Folkner of Arizona, Vicky and Gayle of Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews including all of Carols family for the past 47 years.
