Services for James B. Godsey will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 12, from 1pm--8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm. James passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Claremore Veterans Center. He was 67.
James B. Godsey was born September 16, 1948 in Tyronza, Arkansas to James U. and Earlene (Cleary) Godsey. He was reared and educated in Verdigris and following his schooling he was drafted in the US Army and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge James began working for Carnation. He later built pole barns and houses before he was hired on at Baker Hughes, working as a machinist.
When time allowed, James loved to fish and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball, cheering on his favorite teams, the Cubs and the Cowboys. James loved to tease and joke with his friends and family. He was loved by all who knew him.
Those family members that survive include his wife Diane of their home in Foyil; his children Bobby Ray Godsey of Georgia, Michael L. Brown and wife Theresa and Christopher A. Brown and wife Kristin all of Foyil; his grandchildren James Huckleby, Taylor Godsey, Christopher Brown, Jr., Aaron Lowther, Jordan Brown, Sheyenne Huckleby, Katie Harper, Derek Brown and Kalee Brown; great grandson Ethan Green; his brothers Mitchell Godsey of Foyil and Glen Godsey of Enid. James was preceded in death by his parents James U Godsey and Earlene Payne, daughter Jackie L. Huckleby and two brothers Russell Godsey and Howard Godsey.
