James Donal Malcom

Long time Claremore resident James Donal Malcom passed away in Claremore on Friday, he was 86. Don was born on January 14, 1931 in Coweta, OK to Riley Jay Malcom and Viola Kuykendall. Don Grew up in Coweta. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 26th at the New Life Baptist Church, Verdigris, OK. Don graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1948 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. He received an Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Campaign Stars. Sgt Malcom was in action with a weapons company from the very start and was among the first troops to go ashore at Pohang, He went through his Baptism of Fire unscathed. He saw his roughest action during the
American Breakout of the Pusan perimeter.
Don lived in Verdigris 54 years, was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Claremore and was a registered Angus Cattle rancher for many years. He worked 42 years at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa. He was one of the last four people to leave the plant and lock the gate when the plant finally closed.
Don is survived by his wife Barbara Wycoff Malcom of the home; two sons, Ron Malcom and his wife Sharon, and James Malcom and his wife Thanapa; Grandchildren Kerry and Sarah Malcom, Riley Malcom, Austin Malcom and Aubrey Malcom Bushyhead and her husband Jacob, Kirby and Jennifer Bickel; Great-Grandchildren Isaac, Elizabeth and Sam Malcom, Emma Bushyhead and Kaleb Karson and Kaylee Bickel. Don was preceded in death by his parents Riley Jay and Viola Kuykendal Malcom, Brothers Grant and Wilburn Malcom and sister Lee Malcom Shaleen.
