Funeral service for James Edward Savage will be 2:30 p.m., Fri., Oct. 7, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Tom Launius officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. beginning at 1:00 p.m. with family members present from 6-8 p.m.
Jim died Tues., Oct. 4, 2011, at Skiatook Nursing Home at the age of 74.
Jim was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Oklahoma City to the late Edward Tony and Catherine Leota (Barker) Savage. Jim received his education in Oklahoma City, graduating from Northeast High School in 1956. He worked for Oklahoma Testing Lab as a Lab Technician and later went to work with Standard Industries where he retired as a construction manager. Following retirement he traveled and worked part-time with wife, Janis, for the Forestry Service at camp grounds near Creede, CO and Silver Springs, FL. Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Good Sam's RV Club -- Will Rogers Chapter, and a 33 year member of the Elk's Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, gatherings with friends and family, the Christmas Holidays, and his dog, Leo.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie (DuRall) Savage in July 2010; and his parents.
He is survived by his children: Sharon Park and husband, Kelly of Skiatook, Daniel E. Savage and wife, Judy of Claremore, and Alan B. Savage and wife, Jennifer of Wasala, AK; grandchildren: Jerry Lee Garrison, II, Nick Savage, Jackson Savage, and Samantha Savage; sisters: Carol R. Payton of Oklahoma City, and Sharon Petty and husband, David of Guymon; brothers: Joed Savage and wife, Linda of Norman, and John Savage and wife, Nancy of Grandbury, TX; and nephew, Charles Hughes of Florida.
