Graveside service for James Henry Wimsatt will be 2 p.m., Tues., June 9, at Sycamore Cemetery, Miller, MO, with Pastor John McHaffie officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
James passed away Fri., June 5, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 89.
The son of Charles Elmer Wimsatt and Minnie Ann (Lowrance) Wimsatt was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Mountain View, AR. He moved to the Miller, MO, area where he would meet his wife, Delores Marie Laws. They were married on April 6, 1950, and made their home in Miller. They moved to Wichita, KS, where James worked for Coleman Manufacturing until retiring in 1991. In 2008, they moved to Chelsea, OK. James enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing guitar and singing in church.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of the home; children: Darrell Wimsatt of Wichita, KS, Marvin Wimsatt and wife, Lisa of Mt. Home, AR, Sheila "Wagnon" Gudde and husband, C.W. of Chelsea, Sarita Shackelford of Wichita, KS, and Anita Gonser and husband, Ken of Granbury, TX; brother, Charles Melvin Wimsatt; grandchildren: Tracie, Tina, Logan, David, Shellie, Shauna, Jackie, Kelsey, Crystal, Jason, Jessy, Brandy, Jimmy, Candace, and Melissa; 31 great-granchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
