Sandra "Jane" Gibson passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the age of 61.
The daughter of Buster "Buck" and Laveta Hatchett Barker was born January 10, 1951 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. As a young girl she and her family moved to Tulsa. There she was raised, and attended Mclain High School, graduating with the class of 1969. After graduation she continued her education at the Tulsa Business College. There she met Robert Gibson. They were married March 31, 1973 in Tulsa, OK. The couple made their home in Tulsa, where they would begin to raise a family. She was a devoted mother, wife and Mema, who always put her family's needs before her own. Her faith in Jesus Christ was evident in all areas of her life. She had a passion for studying God's Word, and sharing that with others around her. Whether it was teaching her family or leading ladies Bible study, she always enjoyed sharing the truth of God's Word and how it impacted her life. She actively served in many churches over the years, assuming both leadership and service-oriented roles. Many areas of Jane's life reflected Christ, especially in how she chose to give of herself to others in need. She truly understood what it meant to put others ahead of herself, and do it with a smile and sincere enjoyment. Whether it was playing cards, shopping, going on vacations, lending a helping hand, or any other activity, her enjoyment came from being with family more than the activity itself. In a time when many people chase after material things of this world, Jane showed her wisdom by realizing that Jesus, family and relationships are what this life is all about. She leaves an incredible legacy that will impact many generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her father Buster "Buck" Barker.
Survivors include her mother, Laveta Barker of Tulsa; husband, Robert "Bob" Gibson of the home; daughter, Michele Baldwin and husband Joe of Owasso; son, Rocky Gibson and wife Kristin of Inola; grandchildren, Ashley, Darian and Cade Baldwin of Owasso, and Josie and Hudson Gibson of Inola; and sisters, Linda Baxley of Plano, Texas, and Paula Gomez of Tulsa.
