Jean Ann O'Dell was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Forrest and Myrtle (Hollandsworth) Guinn. She was reared and educated in Sperry, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school. While in school she played in the band. On April 5, 1963 Jean married Donald Glenn O'Dell and the couple made their home in Sperry for a time before moving to Broken Arrow. She worked for Brookside State Bank as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1992. The couple moved to the Foyil area and enjoyed the country life.
Jean's first priority was to her family. She always made sure they were well taken care of. Jean was her children's and grandchildren's biggest fan. She attended their events and supported them in every way. Jean's cooking was the best and her pecan pies were out of this world. She was the one family turned to when times were hard and she would see them through. Jean was a great organizer and volunteered her time and talents often. Her sense of humor and quick wit made all who knew her have a good laugh when in her company.
Family members that survive include her husband of 52 years, Don O'Dell of their home; her children Leann Boothe and husband Chris of Claremore and Bryan O'Dell of Missouri; her siblings Judy Joeckel of Bushyhead and Jim Guinn and wife Elveta of Adair; her granddaughter Jamie O'Dell of Foyil and her great-grandchildren Juliette Vest and Olivia Dawson. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Hunter O'Dell.
Those who wish to honor Jean's memory may make a memorial contribution to the John 3:16 Mission, 506 N. Cheyenne Ave., Tulsa, OK 74103.
