Jennie was born on September 17, 1982, in Enid, Oklahoma, to John and Janet (Cassody) Chelf. When she was around 6 years old, her family moved to Jenks, Oklahoma, where she grew up. Jennie attended Jenks schools, excelling both in the classroom and on the field, as she enjoyed playing soccer and basketball. She graduated from Jenks High School in 2001.

Following high school, Jennie pursued her passion for education at the University of Oklahoma, where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. During her time at OU, Jennie met Tony Sappington in one of her education classes. Their connection blossomed, and they began dating, eventually marrying on July 21, 2007.

Jennie's teaching career began with her first job as a third-grade teacher at her alma mater, Jenks. The following year, she accepted a teaching position at Oologah. She remained at Oologah, where she just started her 18th year of teaching. Jennie's dedication to her students and her passion for education were recognized in 2017 when she was named Oologah's Site Teacher of the Year.

Outside of her teaching career, Jennie’s life revolved around her family. Watching her daughters participate in dance, soccer, basketball, and gymnastics brought her immense joy. She loved spending time outdoors, especially at the beach or lake, where she felt most at peace.

Jennie was known for her compassionate and thoughtful nature. She had a gift for making others feel heard and understood, always engaging in meaningful conversations and offering her support. Her presence brightened the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed.

Jennie is preceded in death by her grandparents Albert Chelf, Robert and Evelyn Cassody, and her nephew, Aiden Brewster.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tony, and their cherished daughters, Jentrie, Trinity, and Sadie. She also leaves behind her parents, John and Janet Chelf; sisters, Stacie Jackson and her husband Matthew, and Carrie Brewster and her husband Erik; her father and mother-in-law, Allan and Linda Sappington; brothers-in-law, Ryan Sappington and his wife Krista, and Colton Sappington and his wife Jessica; nieces and nephews, Keegan, Kylie, Cassidy, Everett, Quinn, Carter, Rylan, and Tinley; her grandmother, Margaret Bolin; and numerous other cousins and extended family.
