Funeral service for Virginia Louise “Jenny” Lawson will be 10 a.m., Fri., March 19, at Westwood Pentecostal Church with Rev. Duane Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m.
Jenny died Sun., March 14, 2010, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 76.
The daughter of Albert Virgil and Dovie Lorene (Bowman) McClure was born Jan. 31, 1934, in Tiawah. On Sept. 22, 1950, Jenny married her school sweetheart, Wardie Lawson, and they made their home in Tiawah. She was an active member of Westwood United Pentecostal Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher. She worked at Long’s Wax Museum as a seamstress, McClure’s Nursery, and V & W Greenhouse. Jenny enjoyed sewing and gardening; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Jenny is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Virgil Franklin McClure.
She is survived by her husband, Wardie of the home; son, Mike Lawson and wife, Mary of Chelsea; daughters: Debra Kirkley and husband, Bob of Inola, and Sheila Arms and husband, Larry of Tiawah; brother, Daryl McClure and wife, Joan of Chelsea; sister, Sharon Battenfield of Glenpool; sister-in-law, Barbara McClure of Inola; grandchildren: Vicki and Brad Millsap of McAlester, Amy and Troy Gilmore of Inola, Rob Kirkley of Dallas, Aaron and Becky Arms of Claremore, Seth Arms of Claremore, and Jessica, Crystal, and Joe Lawson of Chelsea; great-grandchildren: Ty and Halley Gilmore of Inola, and Kytra Lawson of Chelsea; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
