Jerald Lee Downing

Funeral service for Jerald Lee Downing will be 2 p.m., Fri., Sept. 20, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Robin Breazeale officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m.
Jerald passed away Fri., Sept. 13, 2013, at his home at the age of 80.
The son of Noble Lewis and Ella (Canoe) Downing was born June 13, 1933, in Claremore. He grew up and attended school in Pryor. Jerald went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Pauline Faye Shoefelt and they made their home in Lenapah. Jerald worked for the Postal Service for several years before going to work for Passini Utilities as a truck driver for 15 years. Jerald was a member of First Baptist Church of Inola, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie Downing; and a sister.
Jerald is survived by his children: Monty Downing of Mayes County, Audrey Brooks and husband, Tyrrell of Depew, Teresa Downing of Tulsa, Kim Rutledge and husband, Randy of Broken Arrow, and Marsha Smith and husband, Byron of Locust Grove; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA or your local animal shelter.
