Memorial service for Jerald Dean Holt will be 1 p.m., Fri., Oct. 7, at Claremore Assembly of God with Rev. Dave Mewbourne officiating. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Navy.
Jerald died Mon., Oct. 3, 2011, at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, Muskogee, at the age of 84.
The son of Virgil Lee and Eula (Pfaff) Holt was born June 30, 1927, in Jenks. He grew up and attended school in Claremore. Jerald served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a welder all of his life, working for Chicago Bridge & Iron and A.O. Smith just to name a few. He also ran a dairy farm in Pryor for several years.
Jerald was a devoted Christian and well known in his church, Claremore Assembly of God. He enjoyed woodworking, and building anything from trailers to cribs for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing. While living in California, he met and married Alba “Iris” Quinonez. They married in 1973 in Reno, NV. They made their home in Claremore and later moved to the country outside of Foyil, OK. Jerry built the home that he and Iris lived in and loved to make yearly trips to California.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons: Michael and Joe Holt; sisters: Katherine Maness, Teresa Sellars, and brothers Hulen F. Holt, and J.V. Holt.
Jerald is survived by his wife, Iris of the home; daughter Jeralynn Brittle and husband, Larry, and son Robert Wendell Holt and wife, Lorrie all of Quapaw; step-son, Harry F. Quinonez and wife, Tracy of Claremore; daughter-in-law, Sondra Holt of Sapulpa; grandchildren: Lori Holt of Glenpool, Heather Miller of Quapaw, Michael Holt of Glenpool, Zachary Holt of Joplin, MO, Brandon Bear of Colorado Springs, CO, Katherine E. Carter and husband, Trey of Claremore, and John M. Quinonez of Claremore; great-grandchildren: Rylie Jo Holt, Tate Miller, Grace Miller, and DeNise Bear; and numerous extended family members.
