Jerry Moren, a devoted family man and life-long resident of Tulsa and Broken Arrow, OK passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 79.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Jacqueline Moren. He is survived by his wife Susan; son John Moren; son Mitch Moren and wife Sara whom he saw as “the daughter he never had”; son Marcus Moren; grandchildren Logan, Joel, Bennett and AJ; his sister Nancy Burns and husband Lloyd; niece Mary Beth Henry and husband Rick; niece Sarah Burns; great niece Hannah Henry and great nephew Reece Henry.
Jerry was born July 20, 1944, in Tahlequah, OK to Calvin and Jacqueline Moren. He graduated from Tulsa Hale in 1962 and The University of Tulsa in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in mathematical engineering. Jerry enjoyed developing computer software and spent 20+ years at Citgo Petroleum, until he retired in 2007.
Jerry married Susan, his loving wife, on July 16, 1972, and they welcomed three boys who were the most important parts of their lives. He was a devoted father who never missed his sons’ baseball or football games and enjoyed spending time with them and their families. He took pride in making Sunday breakfast for the whole family and loved hosting friends and family on the 4th of July for an “over-the-top” fireworks show.
Jerry was very passionate with home renovation; including installing an inground pool, multiple concrete projects, and a playhouse that was later converted into a pool house. His boys fondly remember their dad involving them in all projects and teaching them the “Moren Way”. Jerry’s other hobbies included coin collecting, watching the Price is Right, and raising Irish Setters.
The Moren family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
