Jerry Davis Tharp passed away on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 at his home in Chelsea at the age of 64.
The son of Euwell Davis and Betty (Rhoads) Tharp was born August 16th,1957 in Wichita, Kansas. As the son of an Air Force staff sergeant, Jerry spent his childhood in many places. He would live in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana before moving to Oklahoma. He would begin attending Tulsa schools, then Claremore before moving to Chelsea during his 8th grade year. During this time he would become active in FFA, and was a member of the graduating class of 1975. After graduation Jerry began his working career. He started by working at a sod farm in the Inola area, and then later took a job working for GRDA, clearing the land for the Chouteau power plant. It was also around this time that he would meet Frances Moore while at the T and H grocery store in Locust Grove. He happened to be a frequent visitor there since it was owned by his family. After four years of dating, the couple would marry on June 19, 1982. They made their home in Chelsea, where they would begin raising their family. Over the next several years Jerry would work for Hilti and as a coin collector for Coin Mach. During this time he would also operate his own appliance repair shop.
During his spare time Jerry had a few hobbies and pastimes that he enjoyed. He was an avid collector of cards. Especially those that involved football, baseball, basketball and music. He loved being with his family, and was always ready for a trip to the casino.
He is preceded in death by his parents Euwell and Betty Tharp.
