James Franklin "Jim" Wiggins was born July 31, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia, to Braxton Walton and Lavinia Louise (Beaulieu) Wiggins; he was reared and educated in his birth community. While he was a young man he worked in a local grocery store. In 1950 he moved to Oklahoma and worked at several different gasoline stations. This was when you received full service for gas. They checked your oil, tire pressure and washed your windshield. Jim made many friends during those years including a well known Tulsa celebrity named Lewis Meyer. Mr. Meyer named him "Smiling Jimmy" and this nick-name stuck. Other employments were Big 4 Foundry and Tulsa Bronze Works, retiring from there after 33 years of faithful service.

Jim married Dorothy Del (Tyson) Noah on December 17, 1988 and they made their home in Inola until about 2 years ago. Jim had several hobbies that included traveling, photography and listening to gospel music. He could fix just about anything and loved tinkering with old cars. A likable person, Jim had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Family was most important to him and he loved having them around.

Those family members that survive include his wife Dorothy of their home in Tulsa; his children Pamela J. Wiggins also of Tulsa, Patricia A. Peterson of Urbandale, Iowa, Beverly J. Driver and husband Richard of Inola and Brad E. Noah also of Inola; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; his brother Cliff Wiggins and wife, Twyla; his sisters Carolyn Symonds and husband Charley and Laura Willis and his son-in-law, Jack Ballard. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard Hoffman, daughter Cheryl D. Ballard, brothers Gary Wiggins, B. W. Wiggins and Mack Wiggins and a sister Margie Reese.
