Funeral service for Jimmie Dale Caldwell will be 2 p.m., Thurs., July 14, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Chaplain John Lay officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Air Force will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m.
Jimmie died Sun., July 10, 2011, at the Muskogee VA Hospital at the age of 76.
The son of Clarence and Ora (Seat) Caldwell was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Mangum, OK. Jimmie served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55. He served during the Korean War and was a gunner's mate with the B-52's. On Dec. 15, 1955, he married Reba Myrtle Buster in Hollis, OK. They made their home in Dallas, TX. In 1972, they moved to Claremore. He retired from McDonnell-Douglas after 20 years of service where he was an Electrical Maintenance Engineer. Jimmie was a 6th degree black belt , and taught Judo at RSU for 5 years. His Judo club held the state championship title for 4 consecutive years. He enjoyed playing card games and woodworking; and was famous for his hot chili.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, Reba on Sept. 15, 2010; his parents; brother, Claude Caldwell; and grandson, Thomas Quinton Willis.
He is survived by his son, James Michael Caldwell of Claremore; daughters: Teresa Priest and husband, Mark of Dewey, and Martha Wormuth of Tulsa; sisters: Ola Jackson, Doris Willingham, and Ruthie Reeves all of Irvington, TX; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
