Memorial service for James "Jimmy" Doolittle will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Chelsea High School Gymnasium.
James passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the age of 35.
The son of Joe Doolittle and Judy Axley Robertson was born January 15, 1979 in Bad Hersfeld, West Germany. Being the son of an Army soldier, James traveled quite a bit during his childhood. As he approached high school age, he settled in Chelsea where he attended Chelsea High School. After finishing school, James began working as a cable tv installer. In 2001 he joined the United States Air Force, eventually serving two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon his discharge he returned home to Chelsea where he worked for Duke Ranch and Phillips Feed while attending Spartan School of Aeronautics. Graduating as the class salutatorian, James made such an impression on the school that he was asked to become a member of their board and was responsible for rewriting the quality control curriculum. The next few years took James to Advance Machining & Fabricating and then back to Spartan, where he became an instructor. James' lifelong dream was to make a living working in the outdoor wildlife market. This dream was reached just a short time ago with the opening of a custom rod shop, Toxic Fishing. In his spare time James loved being in the outdoors. You could find him hunting, fishing, golfing, or coaching little league baseball. He also loved the OU Sooners and the OKC Thunder.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents L.W. "Pete" and Geneva Doolittle, and Arthur Axley.
Survivors include his son, Waylon; parents, Joe Doolittle and Judy Robertson; grandmother, Armintie Axley, brothers, Steven Doolittle and Daniel Robertson, and sisters, Stacy Doolittle and Brittany Robertson and, as James would say, "his brother from another mother" Derek Miller, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A scholarship fund has been set up for James' son Waylon at Lakeside State Bank at P.O. Box 9, Chelsea, Ok 74016.
