Funeral service for Jimmy Ray Turner will be 10 a.m., Mon., July 18, at Catoosa Christian Center with Pastor W.J. Flowers officiating. Burial with military honors by the VFW 5th District Rifle Squad will be held at Osage Gardens Cemetery, Skiatook, under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m.
Jimmy died Wed., July 20, 2011, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 66.
The son of Arthur Benton and Mary Jane (Jensen) Turner was born Sept. 7, 1944, in Pauls Valley. Jimmy grew up in the Wallville area, and attended Hughes High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, and after the service he moved back to Lindsay. He went to work for North American as a plane mechanic. Jimmy later moved to Skiatook. On Sept. 14, 1990, he married Irene Elizabeth Bell, and they made their home in Inola. Jimmy loved mechanical work, and inventing things. He always stayed busy. He loved spending time with his family; and was always happy and laughing. Jimmy was a retired truck driver, and was currently working at Carmart in Owasso.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Guffey; step-son, Darrell Stone; and his parents.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Irene of the home; son, Rocky Turner and wife, Tracy of Skiatook; step-children: Allen Brock of Texas, James Brock of Tulsa, Lisa Doerr and husband, Johnny of Louisiana, and Lonnie Stone of Tulsa; sister, Diana Perry and husband, Davis of Lindsay; 5 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
