Joan Eileen Stout

A celebration of life for Joan Stout will take place on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 4:00 pm MMS-Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, Ok.
Joan Eileen Stout was born on August 23, 1943 to Fred Edward Blann and Celeste (Wagner) Blann. She attended Webster Groves High School in St. Louis County and graduated in 1961. She continued her education at Southeastern Missouri State University, where she majored in art education. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education in 1965. Joan began her teaching career at Bayless school system in St. Louis County and later taught in Hazelwood Public Schools in St. Louis County. She met her husband Gary Stout while they were both teaching at Bayless. They married December 27, 1967 in Rock Hill MO and moved to Claremore, OK in 1972. They made their home north of Claremore where they have been for the last 47 years.
Joan had a love for many things: she was a talented artist and loved to paint. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling; one of her favorite places was the island of Maui. She loved shopping, water skiing, PAC shows, plants, and horse back riding. She always delighted in a good conversation with a friend and meeting new people. One of her greatest joys was being a substitute teacher in the Claremore public school system for the past 23 years. Joan lived her life to the fullest and touched many lives.
She is survived by her husband Gary Stout of Chelsea, her daughter Dana {Stout} Shelley and husband Randall of Van Alstyne, TX; her daughter Lana {Stout} Myers and husband Jack of Tahlequah, OK; her son Grant Stout and wife Maria of Claremore, OK; her brother Wayne Blann and wife Susie of Moravia, NY; her sister Donna Thomas of Inyokern, CA; grandchildren include, Weston and Griffin Shelley; Bella , Elvis, Zoe, and Reagan Myers; and Andrew Stout.
