Born October 1, 1943 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Jesse R. and Maudie Irene (Marlin) Casey. He was raised outside of Claremore where he attended Harmony Star School and later Sequoyah High School. He was a member of the graduating class of 1961. Following his schooling, Joe began working for Safeway where he worked for the next few years, before taking a job with Flemming Construction. That job led Joe into the career of home building, with log cabins being one of his specialties.

On July 16, 1970 Joe married Mary Ann Rader in Wagoner. The newly wed couple made their home in Inola. After a few years there, they took jobs working for the state of Alaska. So the couple packed their bags and moved to the small village of Aniak. There Joe built houses, drove a bus and served as a substitute teacher for the school. He also became an active part of the community serving on the fire department, and served on the local search and rescue team.

In 1996 Joe and Mary Ann retired and moved back home to Claremore. He then took up refurbishing old furniture as a hobby. It quickly turned into a new passion, and Joe found himself antique shopping more and more frequently. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing and going to estate sales. However his true love was spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Maudie; wife, Mary Ann Casey; son, Steven Casey and brother, Billy Casey.

Survivors include his daughter, Georganna Casey of Claremore; sisters, Mackie Hargis of Chandler, and Jeanne Mohon and husband Gene of Claremore, and many other extended family.
