Graveside service for Joe David Griggs will be 10 a.m., Tues., July 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Winston Schaffer of Eastland Assembly of God in Tulsa officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 5-7 p.m.
Joe passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa following a period of illness at the age of 60..
The son of Jack Carrol and Jessie Jewell (McKey) Griggs was born March 1, 1952, in Tulsa. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1970 and continued his education graduating from Tulsa Junior College in 1977 with a degree in Nursing. His work history included Sears and Roebuck, Air National Guard, Claremore Regional (Hillcrest) and the American Red Cross as a Counselor from 1990 until he retired in 2008. Joe loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, gardening, flying and history.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; two sons, J. Tyler Griggs of Claremore and Taylor Griggs of Houston, TX; mother, Judy Griggs-Fitts and husband, J.C. of Claremore; brother, Ronnie Griggs and wife, Karen of Claremore; sister, Bonnie Stimson and husband, Terry of Claremore; and many extended family and friends.
