Graveside service for Joe Moore will be 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 22, at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Steve Holestein officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory.
Joe died Sat., Feb. 16, 2013, at the age of 87 after a short battle with cancer.
The son of Ira and Etta Moore was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Claremore to a pioneer family. Joe graduated from Claremore High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he continued his education at the Oklahoma Military Academy. On Oct. 15, 1956, Joe married Mary Ann Bell. The owned and operated the Belvidere Apartments, Belvidere Mansion, Sugar Bowl Snack Shop, Cardinal Lounge, and Joe's Domino Parlor. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan, and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and Sunday dinners with the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; brothers: Bertie, Ottowa, Jesse, Hastings, Curtis, Gwynne, and Jimmy Cullis; sisters: Leona, Pauline, Lorena, Mary Helen, Effie, and Blanche; and grandson, Bradley Allen Gunnells.
Joe is survived by his daughters: Kim Gunnells and husband, David, and Lisa Jo Moore all of Claremore; and grandchildren: Ashley Gunnells of Tulsa, and Dustin and Jessica Gunnells of Claremore.
