Funeral service for Joella Dorothy Tidwell will be 2 p.m., Mon., March 5, at First Christian Church of Chelsea with Rev. Richard Billings officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-5 p.m., and family will greet friends 3-5 p.m.
Joella died Wed., Feb. 29, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 88.
The daughter of Richard C. and Josephine (Most) Draeger was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Chelsea. Joella graduated from Chelsea High School in 1941. On Sept. 24, 1947, she married Clinton N. Tidwell in Tulsa. After graduation, Joella worked for Fred Massey as a cashier and bookkeeper for 6-1/2 years. Joella was a charter member of First Christian Church of Chelsea. She served as chairman of the Communion Committee, seeing it was on the Lord's table on Sunday morning. She was also a member of Christian Women's Fellowship, taught Sunday School for the youth department, and sang in the choir. Joella and Clinton moved to Claremore in 1949, where Clinton worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 33-1/2 years. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, puzzles, and reading books.
Joella is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton in 2005; her parents; brothers: Ray and Roy Draeger; and sister, Louise McSpadden.
She is survived by her son, Terry Tidwell of Claremore; grandchildren: Tawny Brook Tidwell of Houston, TX, and Tori Nichole Tidwell of Claremore; nephews: Larry McSpadden and wife, Cherry of Frisco, TX, Pat McSpadden and wife, Ann of Chelsea, Eugene McSpadden and wife, Joy of Broken Arrow, Danny Nelson and wife, Jana of McCloud, Bill Tidwell and wife, Irene of Tulsa, Richard and Loyd Stieber of Tucson, AZ, Gary Draeger and wife, Roberta of Chelsea and Loy Morrison of Bartlesville; and nieces: Myrna Bengston and husband, Toby of Chelsea, Ruetta Paris and husband, David of Carlton, TX, and Laura Tidwell and husband,Len of Tulsa, Judy Morrison of Bartlesville and Joyce Tidwell of Claremore.
