Graveside service for John Leonard Bowlin, Sr. of Tulsa, OK, will be 11 a.m., Sat., April 19, at Shady Grove Cemetery, Chelsea, with Rev. Robert Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory.
John went to heaven, on April 9, 2014, at the age of 83. John was born at Bowlin Springs, Oklahoma on January 18, 1931 and grew up in the Chelsea and Vinita, Oklahoma area. John attended school from 1-8 grades in Chelsea and he was a graduate of Attucks High School in Vinita.
John’s work history was at Hotel Vinita, The Railroad Co, Southwestern Bell, business owner Bowlin TV Repair Service, moved to Tulsa and worked at The Glass Factory, Wonder Bread, Rainbow Carpet Cleaning and JR Reynolds; he retired at 71 years of age.
John enjoyed his remaining years at home with his loving wife Brenda. John had a great love for building a city of trains. Family was very important and his favorite topic was his grand and great grandchildren. John received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in his later years.
Survived by his loving wife Brenda of Tulsa, his children – John (Maria) Bowlin of South Pasadena, California; Gayle (Richard) Adams of Pomona, California; Deborah Bowlin of Mira Loma, California; Claudette Martin of Ontario, California; Keith (Renita) Bowlin of Ontario, California; and Ronnie (Stephanie) Bowlin of Riverside, California; 28 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; siblings – Hubert (Connie), Charles (Opal), Douglas, Brenda, Linda and Doyle (Kendell) Bowlin of Bowlin Springs, Oklahoma. Sister-in-Law Helen Bowlin of Vinita, Oklahoma; Patty Wood, Cheryl Collins of Tulsa, Oklahoma and brother-in-law Curman Kelly of Tulsa, Oklahoma with a host of nephews and nieces
