Funeral service for John Donaldson will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Inola First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Zion Mennonite Cemetery near Pryor.
John Allen Donaldson passed away on March 4, 2019 at the age of 65.
The son of Thomas and Sally Stewart Donaldson was born August 7, 1953 in Fairmont, West Virginia. He would later attend Fairmont High School graduating in 1971. August20, 1971 John enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served until being honorably discharged on January 17, 1975. He then returned home to West Virginia. There he began attending Fairmont State College. It was during this time that he met Rebekah Maurer. They began dating and would marry on July 23, 1978. The newly wed couple made their home in Morgantown, West Virginia. There he worked at the Physical Plant at West Virginia University. A short time later he took a job working in the telecommunication industry. This eventually led him to work for the Williams Company, which relocated him to Oklahoma. Wanting to keep his family in a smaller rural community, John and his family settled in Inola. In the years to follow John would retire from telecommunication. However not wanting to fully leave the working world, John took a job at Life Touch Photography. There he helped manage the maintenance department. He retired from there in the mid 2000's.
In his spare time John enjoyed hiking, camping and playing board games with his family. He also enjoyed carpentry and working on home improvement projects.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas; wife, Rebekah; son, Toby and daughter, Sally.
Survivors include his mother, Sally Donaldson; sons, Luke Donaldson and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, Paul Donaldson and wife Emily of Broken Arrow, Tim Donaldson of Claremore, Jacob Donaldson of Ames, Iowa, Abe Donaldson and wife Kayla of Broken Arrow and David Donaldson of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; grandson Landon Donaldson; brothers, Tom and Robert Donaldson and sisters, Sandra Clay, and Donna DeOrta.
