Funeral service for Joyce Yvonne Lutz will be 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 5, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Bill Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 4-7 p.m.
Joyce passed away Wed., Jan. 2, 2013, at her home at the age of 76.
The daughter of Walter Edward and Lela Faye (Palmer) Sumter was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Claremore. She graduated from Claremore High School in 1954. On Sept. 16, 1953, Joyce married Lowell J. Lutz. Lowell served in the U.S. Navy, and the family lived in many cities throughout the U.S. In 1977, they made their home in Claremore. Joyce loved to give those she cared about a hard time. She was very loving and raised her children along with many others. She was an avid reader and of the Assembly of God faith.
Joyce is preceded in death by parents; siblings: Walter E. Sumter, Jr., Eddy J. Sumter, and Lavell Sumter; and grandson, David Lowell Glenn.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell J. Lutz of the home; children: Deborah J. Rubner and husband, James of Sumner, IA, Peggy S. Sanders and husband, Darren of Cleveland, Nancy L. Smith and husband, Timothy of Chelsea, and Anthony M. Lutz and wife, DeAnna of Broken Arrow; grandchildren: Robert Rubner and wife, Tammy, Jodi Rubner and special friend, Cris, Jennifer Dralle and husband, Jermey, Melinda Wheatley and husband, Roy, Ashleigh Sanders, Natasha Smith, Josh Smith, William Smith, Nichole Lutz, Jonathan Rogers, and Zachariah Rogers; 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
