Juanita J. Watkins

Juanita J. Watkins, 82 of Chelsea passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Claremore Regional Hospital.

Juanita was born August 11, 1930 in Elsey, MO. The daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Minnie (Ellis) Watkins. At the age of fourteen, following the death of her mother, Juanita moved to Chelsea. She came to live with her cousins Ulis and Florence Wilson. Juanita was an extremely hard worker. She, waitressed at several local restaurants, clerked at "Vandeveers Drug Store" for many years and later cooked and helped manage the "Mini Mart". She retired about fifteen years ago. Juanita never drove a car and poured her love and devotion into her family and her home. She was a proud homeowner, keeping an exceptionally tidy house and grounds. She loved church, music and could be seen at most gospel concerts that were in town.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her sisters; Sharon Ruth Wishon of Aurora, MO and Gurlee "Jerri" Bowen of Tulsa; sister-in-laws, Betty Watkins of Chelsea, Beverly Watkins of Pekin, IL, and Lois Watkins of Backus, MN, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
