Memorial service for Judy Marie Ortbals will be 10 a.m., Fri., Dec. 19, at First United Methodist Church under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Judy passed away at her home Sun., Dec. 14, 2014, at the age of 69.
The daughter of Henry "Buddy" and Benecia "Necia" (Wood) Horn was born July 8, 1945, in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City. On Oct.. 22, 1988, Judy married Marvin H. Ortbals in Anadarko, and now make their home in Claremore.
Judy worked in lighting sales for many years. She was also a treasure hunter, and ran her own booth at "Remember When" where she sold many wonderful treasures. Judy was an excellent artist in water colors and acrylics; and was a member of Three Rivers Art Club. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Flower Power Ministry, and was a Stephen Minister for several years. Judy enjoyed playing Bunco, gardening, and bird watching. She and Marvin looked forward to their many touring bus vacations all around North and Central America. Judy was lovingly known as "Grama Jo" by many who knew her.
You were a precious mom, wife, aunt, friend, sister, grandma, and so much more. We know you are in the good hands of the Lord, but we will still miss you dearly. Thank you God for the time we were given. We will feel your love, goodness, and kindness forever. Thank you Judy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary Francis Schlicht.
Judy is survived by her husband, Marvin of the home; daughters: Paige Ballard and husband, Jim of Yukon, and Lynn Pankalla of Edmond; sisters: Carol Murray of Lansing, KS, and Geri Strong of Atchison, KS; and grandchildren: Brooke and Blake Ballard of Yukon, and Rachael, Robin, and Kyle Visina of Edmond.
