Julia Robillard Brown Morrison passed on June 30, 2024, at the age of 98
She was born on August 10, 1925, in Hennepin, Minnesota to George Edward Brown and Alice Chase Merritt.
A daughter of a family who prized higher education, when Julie finished high school in 1942, she had from her parents a sum of money set aside to fund her college education. But Julie decided instead to contribute to the war effort through work at a local munitions factory. After the war, Julie married an Oklahoman, James Morrison on July 13th, 1946, who had served as a pilot in the Army Air Forces. Their time in the Armed Services took them to Lancaster, California; Roswell, New Mexico; Kingman, Arizona; Stillwater, Oklahoma finally settling in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
Julie’s artistic talents were wide-ranging, she was a talented painter, seamstress, and quilter and she continued in these pursuits throughout her life. She is remembered through the art she leaves behind, but even more so, through the fruit of her immense dedication to her family—she was the steward of family stories, the bridge between tradition and ingenuity, and a linchpin for her son, children, and grandchildren.
Julia will be missed. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Alice Brown. Sister Jane Kubitz, Brother George Brown, Grandson Chase Morrison and her husband of 42 years James Morrison. She is remembered by her son Jim Morrison and daughter-in-law Judy Morrison, her grandchildren Jimmy Morrison, Ricky Smith, Bethany Stewart and Danny Smith and seven great-grandchildren, Harper, J.J., Emma, Felicity, Gwyneth, Finn and Duncan.
