A memorial service will be held for Julia Roseann Stephens Bynum at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel in Inola, Oklahoma.
Julia Roseann Stephens Bynum went to glory peacefully on March 16, 2023, from complications of dementia and cardiovascular disease. She was born on May 12, 1960, in Tulsa and was the first of three children born to Eugene and Carolyn Stephens.
Julie grew up in Inola and was a proud graduate of Inola High School Class of 1978. After graduation, Julie worked at PSO’s Black Fox Nuclear Power Plant in Inola until 1980. After that, she cleaned houses for family and friends in addition to raising thoroughbred horses and Pomeranians with her husband Kenny.
She was “Bubba” to those she was closest to, a nickname she loved because it was given to her by her nephew Matt when he was 2 years old. Julie was generous, loving, and always ready for an adventure. She never met a waterpark she didn’t like. Because of Aunt Bubba, her nephews and nieces have visited every water park within a 100-mile radius of Inola.
Julie loved life, her dogs, her horses, her antiques, and most of all her family. And her family loved her very much, too. Even though she had been away from the family for a while, she was deeply loved and missed every single day. There is a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. Bubba, we are heartbroken that you are gone but happy that you are home with Daddy and free from the pain you felt here on earth.
Julie is survived by her mother, Carolyn Stephens; sister Jeanne Applegate (Paul Parrott); beloved sister-in-law Lauren Lindeman (Mike); brother Mark Stephens; nephews Matthew Applegate, Kyle Applegate (Christina), and Wes Stephens; nieces Alexis Stephens and Ashlyn Metzler (Jacob); great nephews Tristan and Bradlee; great niece Frankie; former husband Kenny Bynum; bonus kids Rodney Bynum (Tonia) and Lana McCoy (Billy); bonus grandkids Kyle, Cody, Hunter, Tyler, Bailey and Ashton; and many cousins and dear friends.
Preceding Julie in death is her sweet daddy, Gene (aka Papa) Stephens, as well as grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles who made life super fun growing up.
