Junior Ray Barbee AKA “Jr”, age 79, died on Saturday March 26th at 2:20 pm at the Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma.
Junior is survived by his wife, Jackie Barbee of Claremore OK; his Brother, Don and wife, Thelma Barbee of Grove OK; his Sister, Aretha Fae Barbee of Stigler, OK; his Brother, Rick and wife Debbie Barbee of Foyil OK.; his Children: Randy and wife, Kathy Barbee of Claremore OK, Gary and his wife, Charlene Barbee of Phoenix AZ; Nine (9) Grandchildren and Twelve (12) Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia LaVon Marone; two grandkids: Phillip Bryce Marone and Joshua Paul Barbee; and his first wife, Bertie Mae Barbee.
Junior was born on November 24, 1936 in Whitefield OK, to parents Richard O’Hara Barbee and Ruby Lorene Fiddler. As a Young Man “Jr” traveled from Whitefield, OK, to Bakersfield, CA, and back to Whitefield, working on Cotton Fields and Ranching.
In early 1960”s Jr chose Claremore, Oklahoma, as the place to call home and raise his family. He was a family man, he loved to coach Randy, Gary and Sheila in Youth Baseball and Softball and was always active in all of their youth activities.
In 1979, after years of working in the Heating and Air-conditioning trade Jr founded his own Company, “Barbee’s Heating and Air” and then in 1993 partnered with his Son Randy and relocated the business to Foyil Oklahoma where it still resides as a thriving business today.
In his Sr. Years, Jr’s real passion turned to horses and he loved to compete and participate in Team-Penning events. Jr and his wife Jackie were known to travel anytime and to anywhere just to hang out and ride with their Team-Penning friends.
Jr loved people, he was known for his humor, and he always had a joke or two to share. He had a knack of telling the jokes as he had actually lived them. Even after his health had failed to where he could no longer ride, he still loved to go, just to tell a joke or two!
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31st , at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel, Claremore OK. Burial will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery, Foyil. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m. and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
