Funeral services for Barbara “Karen” McMillen will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 29, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel in Claremore, with Rev. Dave Mewbourne officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 2-3 p.m.
Karen passed away Saturday morning, August 24, 2013, at the Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 74.
The daughter of Henry Washington and Bernice Irene (Mason) Setters, was born March 14, 1939, in the Owalla community outside of Claremore. Karen graduated from Chelsea High School in 1959. On November 15, 1969, she married Valdon Lee McMillen at the Chelsea Assembly of God. They made their home outside of Chelsea. Karen was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting many children through the years. She was a past member of Trinity Holiness Church of Chelsea and attended Claremore Assembly of God when she moved to Claremore. Karen liked working puzzles, planting flowers and spending time with her two dogs. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Valdon in 2003; parents; and siblings: Dennis Gale Setters, Hildred Freudenthaler, and Wanda Carnell.
She is survived by her sister, Erlene Shatto and husband Virgil of Catoosa; nieces Vivian Rogers and husband, John of Claremore, Linda Holland of Claremore, Virginia Walker of Catoosa and nephew Rick Shatto and wife Sally of Jenks, and other nieces and nephews.
