Mary Kathleen (Clary) Garrison was born August 22, 1942 near Albion, Oklahoma, the youngest of five children, to Neal and Vera (Head) Clary. She was reared and educated in her birth community, graduating from Albion High School with the class of 1960. She continued her education by attending Northeastern State University. While she was at Northeastern, she met Joe Garrison and the two were married on January 21, 1961. This union was blessed with 2 daughters.
Kathy was a very independent and intelligent lady. She made a wonderful home life for her daughters, teaching them the value of hard work and how to stretch a dollar. Kathy was a wonderful seamstress, making all of the girl's clothes. Her sewing skills also made a living for her and her family. There wasn't much that Kathy couldn't do, from changing the oil in her car or roofing her own home, everything she did was to perfection. She loved being outside and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and baling hay. Kathy also loved to read and work crossword puzzles.
A classy and sometimes sassy mother, nana and friend, Kathy will be missed by all who knew her. Those family members that survive include her daughters Sharon Brandes and husband Craig of Twin Lake, Michigan and Kathy Jo Padgitt and husband Will of Claremore; her grandchildren William Dale Padgitt and Robert Neal Padgitt of Claremore, Madeline Kathleen Johnson and Matthew David Johnson of Twin Lake, Michigan; her brother Darrell Clary and wife Dot of Talihina, Oklahoma, her sister Patricia Laverne Gray and husband Winston of Purcell, Oklahoma. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Frances Olea Clary and Doris Maxwell.
Those who wish to honor Kathy's memory may do so by contributing to either the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or Claremore Museum Of History, 121 N. Weenonah Ave., Claremore, Oklahoma 74017.
