Service for Kenneth Lee "Cookie" Glass will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, Inola, burial will follow at Sweeten Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 4, from 2pm-8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm. Kenneth passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. He was 83.
Born February 4, 1939 in Claremore, Oklahoma to George Washington and Hattie (Blackfox) Glass, Kenneth went to school in Little Kansas and graduated in 1958. He enlisted in the Navy and served his country for 4 years. During that time in the Navy, he was stationed on ship in Pearl Harbor. Following his honorable discharge, Kenneth began working for Sheffield Steel. He also attended trade school and became a licensed electrician.
On December 22, 1962, Kenneth married Virginia Burton and the couple lived in Tulsa until 1978. Later they moved to Inola and this has been home since. Kenneth enjoyed baseball, basketball, football, and watching the OU Sooners sports. When he was in high school, he was the star player on the basketball team. Kenneth also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. His family meant the world to him and he took great care of them. Although a quiet man, when he spoke it was with wisdom and kindness. Even before he became a Christian, Kenneth lived a morally and upstanding life. His friends and family could always count on him in time of need.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Kenneth is survived by his wife Virginia; his children Kimberly Applegate and husband Joey and William "Bryan" Glass and wife Fay; grandchildren Lacy Applegate and Dustin, Levi Applegate and wife Dayna, Kaitlin Hankins and husband Andrew, Logan Applegate and wife Kayla, and Garrett Glass and wife Brylee; great grandchildren Serena, Jacob, Daniel, Avery, Liam H., Liam A., Caleb, Ember, Rylee, Cohen, Jamison, and Oaklyn; great great grandchild Eden; brother Jimmy Glass; sisters Christine Millspaugh and Jean Burton and husband Robert. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and sister Juanita Lindstrom.
