He was 60.
Born on March 14, 1964, Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Lawrence (Larry) Hochstetler and Patty Darlene Inman, though named after his birth father, everyone knew him as Tod. During his childhood, he was adopted by his step father Marvan Huen. The family moved all over the country but settled during his highschool years in Iowa where he graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 1983. His thirst for learning and exploring the intricacies of the automotive world remained insatiable. Tod’s passion for automobiles bloomed early on, from the time he could walk and talk, he was making car sounds and pulling apart everything he could just to see how it worked. He honed his skills and knowledge, his passion for muscle, speed, and color setting him on his career path as a mechanic. His expertise extended beyond professional boundaries as he considered working on cars not just a job but a beloved hobby. In his younger years, Tod loved to race the cars he built with friends and his brothers. He was a car guy, through and through, with his many projects that were never quite done enough in his opinion. Tod was part of several car clubs through the years, sharing his love and knowledge with a community that was as passionate as he was.
Tod was a man of strong principles and even stronger faith; those who knew him could always count on his honesty and fairness. Though at times he might have been seen as stubborn, his integrity and love for Jesus Christ shone through in all aspects of his life. He made sure to pass on that love to his children and to share with everyone the joy and peace that could be found.
Family held a special place in Tod's heart. He cherished moments spent with his loved ones, especially his wife Laurie Huen. His dedication and love extended to his children, nieces and nephews. Tod could always be counted on for advice, help with your car, and a hug. Family get-togethers were some of his favorite times; playing poker with his siblings, karaoke with all the kids, and always good food. Apart from cars, Tod found solace in antiquing with Laurie—a cherished pastime shared between the two of them. He had a love for the stories and history of simple things, and was always so excited to share the things he had found with those around him. His taste was eclectic, ranging from medieval knights and castles, to modern neon or 50’s retro, you never knew what he was going to bring home.
Those family members that survive include his wife, Laurie Huen; his children, Adam Huen (Moriah) Baber, Ashley Booker, Heather (Robert) Robinett, Harley (Audrey) Coyne, and Lane Huen; grandchildren Mabel Baber, Andre Booker, Skylar Booker, Carter Robinett, Cooper Robinett, and Anne Coyne on the way. He is also survived by his father, Marvan Huen and his mother Patty Kinney; his siblings Shelley Huen Bailey, Dusty (Debbie) Huen, and Kris (Shannon) Huen and many nieces and nephews and other extended family. Tod was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Hugh (Georgia) Inman, his best friend and brother-in-law Richard Bailey, his cousin Timmy Dunkin, many aunts, uncles, and his in-laws, Dale and Ann Heitland, and many other loved ones.
