Funeral service for Larry Warner will be 11 a.m., Fri., March 30, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Minister Michelle Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-6 p.m.
He died Sat., March 24, 2012, at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, at the age of 54.
Larry was born September 11, 1957, in Water Valley, Mississippi to James and Lila Warner. He attended schools in Mississippi and Oklahoma, and graduated in 1975 from Claremore High School. He was active in baseball, track, and basketball, and learned karate as a hobby. Larry worked at Sirloin Stockade while in high school and later at Braden Steel. Larry joined, and was a member Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Known for his smooth dance moves, he was a favorite partner for many a lady. Larry was a lover of many types of music, and could often be heard singing tunes from the Jackson Five and others. Ever the stylish one, he was an avid shopper and always donned the latest fashions of the day. He had an outgoing personality, and sense of humor which was the delight of everyone around him…with Larry close by, there was never a dull moment. He was a bit of an artist, and loved drawing comic book images or any other subject that he found interesting.
Survivors include his mother Lila Warner, brothers John Warner and Ronald Warner (Verdell), both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two sisters, Janie Floyd (Henry O’neal) and Shirley Warner-Beulah, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law June Ellen Warner, one aunt, Mamie Barnes, Montgomery, Alabama, and a host nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his father James Warner, Sr., and siblings: James Warner, Jr., and Alfred Warner.
